The Challenge
In early 2009 Remit Group identified the need to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their sales approach across different elements of their business. With the Retail Motor Industry Federation, Remit Group’s businesses include an automotive apprenticeship provision, a recruitment agency, a publishing business and a membership organisation.
In addition, due to the success and strengths of the relationships that Remit Training had built with careers services, schools and colleges around the country the business received approximately 20,000 applicants for the 1,500 automotive technician vacancies that were identified. Processing and managing these number of vacancies and candidates was a time consuming – and therefore expensive – task.
The Solution
John Parkes led on the project and re-engineered the sales process, designing a new workflow that improved efficiency by 95%. To enable the workflow a new IT solution was required that matched the functionality of a CRM system, a Recruitment System and included cost effective on-line screening of candidates. A specification and brief were designed for Remit and the project was put out to tender, overseen by Footprint.
Given the complexity of the projects no one solution could fully meet the brief. The most cost effective solution was chosen as an ‘off the shelf’ Recruitment system and an online profiling tool that was implemented by Footprint.
Having chosen a supplier, Remit then asked Footprint Group to oversee the commissioning and installation of the system.
The Outcome
The project quickly became challenging due to a number of staff changes at the major supplier. A dedicated project manager from Footprint Group led the implementation on behalf of Remit throughout. In addition to overseeing the implementation and integration of the different IT platforms, the project manager also had to deal with the complexity of over 100 data sources that were combined for the data load.
The solution successfully delivered:
- A profiling solution that candidates complete online
- A customised Recruitment and CRM System that supported the new working practices
- Integration between these systems and Remit’s existing IT platform
